When you're looking for someone to design your home, experience matters…

For 45 years, Robert Krone has been turning architectural dreams into reality, bringing both technical know-how and creative vision to each project. Robert's approach leans modern—clean lines, interesting material combinations, and designs that make the most of your site's views and natural light. But what clients often tell him they appreciate most is that he listens. Your home should reflect how you live, not just follow architectural trends. Robert takes the time to understand what you need, and his patient, detail-oriented approach ensures your voice guides the entire design process.

After running a successful practice in New York City, Robert moved to Verdi, Nevada in 2016, where he now specializes in custom homes and ADUs that address the unique challenges of mountain living. His own home earned recognition from the American Institute of Architects for its sustainability features—proof that beautiful homes can also be environmentally responsible and energy-efficient.

From Childhood Models to Award-Winning Architecture

Robert's path to architecture started long before college. He grew up in a family of engineers and craftsmen—his grandfather was a German-trained cabinet maker, and his father was always involved in building projects around their house. By age 12, after spending hours carving plaster of Paris models, Robert knew architecture was what he wanted to do with his life.

This early passion led him to study at the University of Minnesota and later earn his master's degree from the University of Illinois in Chicago, where he learned under renowned architect Stanley Tigerman. His career took him from designing custom homes and small churches to working on major commercial projects like the O'Hare Airport master plan and several high-rise towers.

Crafting Spaces Across America

In 2000, Robert founded his own firm in New York City, eventually developing expertise in multifamily and condominium projects during Harlem's renaissance. The New York Times even featured his own modern townhouse project, highlighting how contemporary design can respectfully integrate with historic neighborhoods.

Moving to Nevada in 2016 was a deliberate choice to evolve his practice. Robert designed and built his own home in the Sierra Nevada mountains, serving as his own general contractor. This hands-on experience gave him specialized knowledge in fire-resistant construction and sustainable design for mountain environments—practical expertise that directly benefits clients who want resilient, energy-efficient homes.
